Rollin’

Alaina has been enjoying watching the Reds this summer.  She will stare at the TV with her mouth open watching the game.  We’ve been explaining to her that they are on a roll lately, and she felt the need to join in.   We didn’t get a video of it, but she rolled over for the first time today…twice!  She propped herself up on her forearm, and then let her momentum carry her the rest of the way.

First Tears

Friday was Alaina’s 2 month check up at the pediatritian’s office.  Every thing was again normal, and the doctor was even impressed with how much she was able to hold her head up on her own.

She received 5 vaccinations, 4 of which were injections.  About 4 seconds after the first injection, her face turned fire engine red, and her first tears were shed as she screamed in apparent agony.  It was hard to watch…and we get to repeat it all again in another two months!

Fortunatly, there were no ill effects from the injections and the only visible side effect was moderate crankiness and loss of appetite for a feeding or two.

More Alaina

Saturday the 21st was Alaina’s two month birthday.   It came and went with little fanfare.  It is hard to imagine each month going by as fast as the past two.

Updates:

1.  Good news:  her baby hair is falling out so hopefully some real hair will soon take its place.            Bad news:  it is falling out in the classic male baldness horseshoe pattern.  She is currently between stage VI and VII

2.  After a couple weeks of spending up to three hours getting her to sleep at night, we have found our groove and are now able to get her to sleep in a matter of minutes.  Additionally, she is sleeping through the night several times a week.

Doctors and Visits

Today was Alaina’s one month check up at our pediatritian’s office. She was weighed, measured, and given her Hepatitas B shot. She is right on track with her growth and was given two thumbs up on her health.

Head – 14 5/8″ (55th percentile)

Weight – 10.0 lbs (85th percentile)

Height – 23″ (above the 95th percentile)

Last week, we received a visit from Alaina’s great Aunt and Uncle who came down from Kalamazoo, MI to meet her for the first time. It was great to see them and hang out and are looking forward to making a trip up to their house in the future.

What else is there to do when its 92 degrees outside, and you’re stuck indoors?

This is the picture that the photographer took in the hospital:
