So the day didn’t start off so great yesterday, but ended on a high note. While walking into work at 7:00 am, I slipped and fell on black ice. It was almost like the movies. My feet completely came out from underneath me. I fell so hard, that someone else walking in actually heard me hit the ground. He came over and helped me up and walked me to the elevators. Thank goodness for good samaritans! Since it was so early, my Dr.’s office wasn’t open yet, so I decided to wait to feel kicks since she’s normally so active. Of course, as luck would have it, no kicks. I then called my Dr.’s office when they opened, and they told me to come in at 9:30. Bobby met me there, and they hooked me up to the contraction belt to make sure I wasn’t having contractions. I was also hooked up to the heartbeat belt. At first they had trouble finding the heartbeat, so OUR hearts were in our throat. They finally found it, and it was strong! No contractions either. My Dr. said sometimes trauma and stress can lead to pre-term labor. So she told us what to look for if I were to start contracting. And obviously, since I’m only 23 weeks, it would be way to early to even have her early. But we left feeling much better, knowing our little girl was ok since we heard her heart and started feeling her strong kicks again!
Things kept getting better…we came home to a surprise package in the mail from Aunt Karen and Uncle Ron. It was the World of Peter Rabbit series. We are very excited to read these stories with our daughter!

Later in the evening, our friends, the Baumer’s, helped us pick up our nursery furniture from Babies R Us. We are keeping it the boxes so it’s easier to paint the room. I did, however, have to open one of the boxes just to see it because I’m so excited.
