Not a teen anymore

So our little girl is now officially 20 months old!

We thought it would be fun to post some facts about things Alaina is into.

*As of last week, she can climb onto our couch unassisted (picture below)

*When she hears the garage door open her eyes light up and she immediately says “Dada’s home!”

*She runs on her toes with a little bounce in her step.

*She can count..”8, 9, 10, 11, 12, sleepin”.  And to translate, sleepin is 13.

*When she hops, she gets air.

*She loves to act like she’s asleep and snores while doing it.

*Tells Jerzey (our dog) to lay down while we eat at the table, so she doesn’t beg.

*She gets a HUGE burst of energy after she eats dinner…to the point where she runs laps around the family room.

*Books are still her favorite thing to do.  Her favorites right now are “Katy Duck”, and “Tonka Chuck and Friends Bridge Jump Adventure”

*She has 11 teeth, all molars have come in/or hit the surface. 3 front bottom, and 4 front top.  There are a couple others that are very close to coming through.

*Alaina is talking like crazy and starting to form sentences.

*Coloring is something we do everyday…sometimes more than once.

*She LOVES to eat, and we mean E-A-T!!!!  There are times where she literally eats as much as an adult.  It’s pretty amazing.

*She enjoys pushing her cart around the house.  She also hides a lot of her toys in there too.

*Her favorite snack is Cheerios or puffs.

*When Bobby or I say “I love you Alaina” she puckers up and knows we want a kiss.

Hide n’ seek

Sleep

This is how she was in my belly while I was pregnant.  Funny she still finds comfort in that position a year and a half later.

All smiles … some teeth

Jersey’s Lap

This is what Alaina calls sitting in “Jerzey’s Lap”.

School days

Preschool that is. We just found out that Alaina was accepted to preschool at Faith Community United Methodist Church starting this fall.
We’re so excited for her to learn new songs, bring home art work and to interact with children her age in a learning environment.

18 month check up

Her doctor’s visit this past week went very well. She’s in great health. Her doctor was impressed and commented on how well Alaina can talk for her age. Her words are well formed and she understands what you tell/ask her. We are very pleased that her development is right on track!

We have one tall lady! She consistently averages in the 80-95 percentile for her age.

Stats…

Weight: 23 lbs. 13 oz. (40%)

Height: 33 1/2″ (95%)

Santa Claus came to town

Christmas was very special this year. Alaina was able to take part in several old Christmas traditions as well as some new ones. Claire made peanut butter cookies with Alaina using her grandma’s (Nannie) recipe. Claire and her grandma would make them together when she would spend the night. Alaina’s favorite part this year was the final result…eating.

Christmas morning was fun too. However, we’ve been telling Alaina all month not to touch the presents. So when it finally came time to tear them open, she was a little confused…as if we were testing her obedience. Her favorite two gifts this year so far have been her Minnie Mouse doll (to go with her favorite cartoon Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) and her doll baby.

We hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas and wish you a safe and Happy New Year!

Christmas cookie decorating

Alaina is continuing the family tradition of decorating cookies before Christmas.  And in true Kehm form, she likes to load on the frosting!
