School days

Preschool that is. We just found out that Alaina was accepted to preschool at Faith Community United Methodist Church starting this fall.
We’re so excited for her to learn new songs, bring home art work and to interact with children her age in a learning environment.

18 month check up

Her doctor’s visit this past week went very well. She’s in great health. Her doctor was impressed and commented on how well Alaina can talk for her age. Her words are well formed and she understands what you tell/ask her. We are very pleased that her development is right on track!

We have one tall lady! She consistently averages in the 80-95 percentile for her age.

Stats…

Weight: 23 lbs. 13 oz. (40%)

Height: 33 1/2″ (95%)

Santa Claus came to town

Christmas was very special this year. Alaina was able to take part in several old Christmas traditions as well as some new ones. Claire made peanut butter cookies with Alaina using her grandma’s (Nannie) recipe. Claire and her grandma would make them together when she would spend the night. Alaina’s favorite part this year was the final result…eating.

Christmas morning was fun too. However, we’ve been telling Alaina all month not to touch the presents. So when it finally came time to tear them open, she was a little confused…as if we were testing her obedience. Her favorite two gifts this year so far have been her Minnie Mouse doll (to go with her favorite cartoon Mickey Mouse Clubhouse) and her doll baby.

We hope all of you had a very Merry Christmas and wish you a safe and Happy New Year!

Christmas cookie decorating

Alaina is continuing the family tradition of decorating cookies before Christmas.  And in true Kehm form, she likes to load on the frosting!

Photo With Santa

Tonight was this season’s first night (employee night) of Ohio National’s Victorian Village and Alaina’s first year getting an official picture with “the big guy”.  We have been showing her pictures of Santa for the past few weeks so she could start recognizing him. She even can point to teddy bears dressed like santa and say, “Santa?”.

When we got to Santa’s house, she was very interested…even peeking her head in through the window to catch a peek. But when it came time for the big show, she was terrified. Instant panic attack. Oh well, it made for a pretty amusing photo. Thankfully Santa doesn’t hold grudges and will still be bringing presents this year.

Picture Explosion

As promised, here are the pictures that should help catch you up on the past couple months.

…and we’re back

Sorry for the long delay in posting recently! Life has been a little hectic lately, but fortunately we are on the tail end of it all. It started out with Alaina getting pink eye (in both eyes actually), then croup, which turned into pneumonia and a double ear infection. At the same time Claire came down with bronchitis. After about 3 weeks we got better. But about a week later Alaina came down with a runny nose and cough, and Bobby came down with a cold. Bobby and Alaina are hanging on to little cough and runny nose, but it’s much better now. It’s easy to forget how much we take our health (and sleeping through the night) for granted.

So a few really fun things have happened since our last post. Bobby’s Aunt Ann came in from Arizona (before our illnesses) to visit. We went for a few hikes, and had a really nice dinner together. It was so wonderful seeing her!

We visited Alaina’s first pumpkin patch. We went on a secluded hayride that spits us out in a private pumpkin patch. It was perfect since there wasn’t chaos trying to make sure she doesn’t get knocked down by older kids. She then picked out her very first ‘punkin’.

We took Alaina out to Trick-or-Treat for Halloween with her cousins Caleb and Nathan. She was a flower. We worked hard on teaching her how to say ‘Trick-or-Treat’, but all that came out was ‘tick’. It works! She got gobs of candy. Did she eat it? No, but Bobby and I did. We may or may not feel a little guilty about using our daughter’s cuteness to get some free candy.

Alaina ran her first 5k race! Ok, well not literally, but she sat perfectly in her jogging stroller while Bobby ran the Sharon Woods Holiday in Lights race this past weekend. She loved it! The last leg of the race was Christmas lights the park has strung up all throughout the woods. I see many more races with these 2 in our future!

Pictures coming soon!

Thirsty Teddy

Alaina has been giving her teddy bear a workout lately. So she thought it best to keep her hydrated.
